Helm’s Spring Checklist: The Bald Man’s Guide To A Fresh Spring Look

Birds are chirping, tulips are blooming, and the days are getting brighter. Spring is officially here, and with it, a chance to refresh your look and do some “Spring Cleaning” of your wardrobe and your image.

We’ve talked in previous blogs about the way people really feel about bald men - most people see them as intelligent, strong, successful, and funny. But these assumptions are made stronger when a bald man takes excellent care of himself, dresses to impress, and carries an aura of confidence. That’s why style is so important.

Here are some simple ways to change up your style and update your look this Spring.

Try a cool hat: Contrary to what you may believe, a hat isn’t JUST a way to hide a bald head. In fact, it can be a fashionable and flattering accessory to show off your style and stand out in a crowd. Some great Spring options are flat caps, stylish baseball caps, and fedoras.

Explore lighter fabrics and colors: It’s time to put away your black sweaters and dark shirts. Swap them out for pinks, purples, light blues and greens, and cool yellows. These colors say “I’m not afraid to be seen.” They showcase your desire to be on trend and they pair well with basic bottoms, like a nice dark wash jean or a pair of tailored gray slacks.

Invest in the right products (sunscreen): As a bald man, your skin is front and center, so you need to protect it. SPF is especially important in the Spring because the sun is shining all day but you’re less likely to notice or care since temperatures aren’t scorching. Be sure to find an SPF gentle enough for your face and strong enough to protect your head and body from the sun all day long.

Try a new pair of sunglasses: A new pair of shades can change your whole look. And with so many styles to choose from (narrow shades can give off a Matrix vibe and Aviators can give you that classic look), there’s definitely a pair for you. Make sure you choose a style that blocks both UVA and UVB rays.

Commit to a fitness routine: Apart from being an important part of a healthy lifestyle, committing to a fitness routine can help you feel strong and sexy. When you’re hitting the gym regularly, all of your clothes will look better on you because you’ll wear them with more confidence. Starting a fitness routine is also a great way to break out of your comfort zone and flex your “trying new things” muscle.

Reduce screen time and get outdoors: Spring is one of the prettiest times of the year, and it’s the time when temperatures are the most mild. It’s a great time to get out in your city, find fun restaurants and bars, hit up an outdoor concert, or take a walk in your local park. Take the time to get outside and break away from all the screens in your life. Think of it as “Spring Cleaning” for your mind and spirit.

Embrace accessories: Sunglasses and hats aren’t the only accessories you can rock in the Spring. Try a cool watch, a wooden necklace, or a bright pair of statement shoes (if they match your personality) or a cool short boot. Maybe you want to try a bright tie or some light scarves. Just make sure you don’t overdo it. Limit yourself to two accessories per outfit.

Boost your confidence: Ok, so technically this isn’t a quick accessory swap. But confidence is the most important part of your look. To boost your swagger and feel like a badass, check out 5 tips to feel more confident today. Step one: own it!
